“IN THE NAME OF CHARITY”- TEENAHARAN FUND
Greetings!
Looking out around us, there are many of those who need a helping hand to move forward in life. Some of these unfortunate people suffer from diseases that are costly to cure. Such is a 7-year-old child, R. Teenaharan, who has been suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia since July last year.
Smart Reader® Worldwide has always felt strongly for the less fortunate and have looked for ways to show their concern and assist them in making things better. R. Teenaharan’s plight was highlighted in The Star newspaper dated 27 March 2007 and in the name of charity, on 30 March 2007, Smart Reader® Worldwide contributed RM 2,000 for the Teenaharan Fund.
Students, teachers, principals and parents of Smart Reader Kids® are encouraged to contribute to this fund. All cheques must be made payable to Teenaharan Fund where else money collected by each centre would be directed to the Finance Department of Smart Reader® Worldwide and would later be donated to the Teenaharan Fund. Closing date for this donation drive is on 30th April 2007. Let us play a part by giving Teenaharan an opportunity to lead a better life.
Thank you and best regards.
Yours truly,
SMART READER® WORLDWIDE SDN BHD

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SMART READER KIDS® TALENT SEARCH CONTEST
Theories claim that the right brain stimulates creativity where else the left brain stimulates cognitive thoughts. Kids need to progress not only academically but also creatively. The first few years of a child’s brain development is the most crucial stage in a child’s growth. Hence, the child needs adequate stimulation for brain function.
Smart Reader® Worldwide, the largest child enrichment programme provider in Malaysia, is adopting many ways to stimulate a child cognitively and creatively. One of which is the Smart Reader Kids® Talent Search Contest that was initiated so that children who are exceptionally gifted and talented may be identified. The contest paves the way to help hone the skills of any child to bring out the best in them.
The objectives of the contest are to:
develop the talent and potential of children between 3 to 6 years old
build their self- confidence
instill the love for English Language among the children
improve the children’s proficiency in the English language
This contest also provides an avenue for all Smart Reader Kids® students to express themselves creatively and confidently on stage, be it singing, dancing, story-telling, or playing musical instruments. In August 2007, we will be seeing more of these children and their talents as the finals for this annual event will be held then.
Talent is beyond words. It is not something you put on, but what you have within you.

SMART READER® KID OF THE YEAR
Early Childhood Development comprises all the essential support a young child needs to survive and thrive in life, as well as the support of family and community to promote healthy development in children. This includes integrating health, nutrition, and intellectual stimulation by providing the opportunities for exploration and active learning. Providing the social and emotional care and nurturing a child is necessary in order to realise his or her human potential.
Therefore, what happens to a child, and the opportunities provided to a child in the first years are crucial in determining lifelong outcomes. Realising this, Smart Reader® Worldwide Sdn Bhd, franchisor of the exclusive Smart Reader Kids® Child Enrichment Centres has organised the Smart Reader® Kid of the Year Competition. Having begun in 2004, the Smart Reader® Kid of the Year Competition is organised annually with the aim of identifying students who are exceptionally gifted and talented. Helping to hone the skills of the children to bring out the best in them, the competition also aims to instill the love for the English language among children as well as to improve their proficiency in the language.
The Smart Reader® Kid of The Year competition also provides the avenue for all Smart Reader Kids® students to develop and apply their creative skills, confidently on stage, be it singing, dancing, story-telling or playing musical instruments. Other judging criteria include the kid’s overall performance in knowledge, attitude, responsibility, articulation, confidence, class participation, social interaction, leadership qualities, talents and academic achievements.
This annual event will be held in August 2007 this year. Banking on the success of previous years, this year, the contest will attract an overwhelming response from Smart Reader Kids® and their parents.
It is fascinating how some kids are just
blessed with talents. Here at Smart Reader
Kids®, we believe in bringing out the best in
all our children.
